Hocking Hills Festivals to Enjoy All Summer

Summer is the best time to explore Hocking Hills. Hiking, cave exploring and outdoor activities are a must do for visitors and locals who love to get out into nature during the warmer months. One of the other great aspects of summer in the Hocking Hills are summer festivals. Explore some of the must-see events happening in the Hocking Hills.


Nelsonville Music Festival

June 2-5

Head over to the Nelsonville Music Festival, located on the grounds of Hocking College for three days of national and regional acts with great energy and amazing music. Headline acts include artists from Austin, Texas, an Australian Rocker and 44 other acts for a year’s worth of great concerts on offer in one jam packed weekend.


Bicentennial Bash

June 10-15

Join a week-long celebration of Logan’s founding starting June 10 with a Bicentennial Salute at the Worthington Park Gazebo. The week includes many events including a Prohibition Party hosted by Hocking Hills Moonshine Saturday, June 11, a Community Picnic with a Cause on Sunday, June 12 or stick around and try some of the Trolley tours of historic Logan and enjoy some fun at the Hocking County Historical Society Museum.


Washboard Music Festival

June 16-18

Dubbed as “Ohio’s Most Unique Music Festival,” Washboard celebrates the traditional and inventive use of the washboard as a musical instrument. Find out why people love the washboard instrument with performances from many acts including Central Ohio jazz legend Arnett Howard.



July 8-10

Lilyfest is an annual festival which brings in thousands of visitors annually to view the forest gardens and art displays available for viewing. Walk through the beautiful Bishop Educational Gardens while taking in arts and crafts for sale from around the region. Annuals, perennials and water plants will also be on sale. Take advantage of the opportunity to question master gardeners on growing and maintaining plants at home.


Fireman’s Old Time Festival

July 20-23

Packed with fun events for a great cause (supporting Laurelville Volunteer Fire Department), the Fireman’s Old Time Festival is a community tradition for more than 90 years. Expect to be entertained and well fed at the nightly fish fries. Take in the talent show, sample some greats at the cake auction and try a hand at square dancing.


Parade of the Hills

Aug. 17-20

Parade of the Hills brings together Nelsonville and the surrounding area after nearly seven decades as a community tradition. Celebrate community pride and the Appalachian spirit by enjoying a wide variety of food and events for four days. The one can’t-miss event is the Ohio State Fiddling Contest with great music from across the state.
